The family of a slain Gambian man in Germany, Lamin Touray, has demanded his body from the German government.

Mr Touray,46, was allegedly shot and killed by German Police last week. The German Police claimed that Touray threatened them with a knife after a dispute with her girlfriend. 

But the girlfriend disputed that claim accusing the German police of using lethal force against her partner who was having a medical episode. 

Modou Touray, father to the victim, said the family is still reeling from the tragic death of their son and they want the Gambia government to help bring the victim’s corpse for proper burial.

“We received his death with shock. We didn’t expect this and it deeply saddened the whole village. We want the government to help us and seek justice for him because we have no power to ensure he gets justice. We are appealing to the government to help us get his dead body. We see his killing as brutal and unjust,” he said.

“We are deeply saddened since his killing because he was our breadwinner. Before his killing, we discussed his intention to rebuild the compound,” he added.

The Gambia government has said the German authorities have promised a thorough investigation into Touray’s death. 

Meanwhile, dozens of Gambians have condemned the killing of the deceased and demand justice for him.
