The Gambia national football team has moved five places in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Wednesday.

The Scorpions are now sitting in the 152 spot, a significant improvement given that it was ranked 172 when Tom Saintfiet took over as head coach.

The team made history last month after qualifying for their first ever Africa Cup of Nations. They beat the Palancas Negras of Angola by 1-0 win at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Gambia finished top spot in Group D ahead of Gabon with 10 points after six matches.
