Sixteen people have tested positive for coronavirus bringing the total number of  cases since March 2020 to 3,857.

Three of the new cases are linked to recently confirmed cases while the others were people requesting test certificates for the purpose of travelling.

Twelve are male and four female, and the age ranges from 14 to 67 years old.

Meanwhile 16 people were newly taken into hotel quarantine for coming into the country without valid negative Covid-19 PCR test certificates.

Gambia is seeing a sharp increase in coronavirus cases since the festive holidays with people still not following social distancing measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
