Former AFPRC vice chairman Sana Sabally

Former vice chairman of the AFPRC, Sanna Sabally, has accepted responsibility for the killings of Lt Basiru Barrow and Abdoulie Dot Faal saying that” they were enemies.”

Mr Sabally who appeared before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) on Wednesday recounted the alleged November 11, 1994 coup.

On November 11, 1994,  dozens of Gambian soldiers were reportedly killed by the Junta after they were arrested at Yundum and Fajara Barracks.

“We were going to fight unknown enemies because they might be working with external forces,” he said.

He confessed to have seen late Lt Basiru Barrow and Lt Abdoulie Dot Faal to have been mercilessly tortured by their orderlies.

“Cut the snake head from his body. I stood the soldiers and said we have to kill Basiru Barrow and Dot Faal. I personally ordered for their execution, ” he added.

He said both him and other officers with their orderlies participated in the killings of the duo.

He said: “The next day we got the ring leaders and taken them to the range in Brikama and executed them and buried them at the Yundum Barrack.”
