President Adama Barrow has given D2 million to players and staff of the Gambia U20 football team for winning WAFU championship last year.

The U20 team won the regional tournament in Thies last November where they defeated arch rival Senegal in the final. 

President Barrow, on Thursday at a special ceremony at State House, hailed the team for their success and urged them to remain focused on bringing more success to the country. 

The president also praised the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), the coach and his technical team, for delivering such victory for the country.

The team and GFF officials were accompanied to State House by the Minister of Youths and Sports, Bakary Badjie.
