A transport truck crashed on the Senegambia bridge last night causing traffic chaos around the border.

The Senegalese truck loaded with groundnuts was travelling from Yelli Tenda when the accident happened late at night.

Authorities advised motorists to use the Banjul-Barra crossing as recovery work start this morning.

The Gambia Ports Authority, the government agency oversees the running of the bridge, said in a statement “Management is currently working on logistics to move the truck off the bridge.

“In the meantime, vehicles and passengers can kindly use the Banjul Barra crossing until the situation is resolved.”
