Two women have made shocking revelations about police brutality during the Jammeh regime.

The women from Sabach Njieyen told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission that in 2012 security forces raided their village and arrested everyone including pregnant women and children.

Maget Touray and Fatou Secka said the police were manhandling the villagers before arresting them.

Maget said one of the pregnant women, Ndey Saffie, had a miscarriage due to the physical and emotional effects of her ordeal at the Farafeni police station.

“The day we went to the police her stomach started to pain her and she got miscarriage, and we sent for a wrapper because she was heavily bleeding,” she said.

Fatou Secka said another woman called Mam Haddy had a stillbirth the day she was released from detention.

The women said they were subjected to threats of violence and insults by the security personnel.

The hearing continues.
