A Guinean Imam Nanfo Diaby was arrested after leading Eid al-Fitr prayers in the local Mandingo language instead of Arabic.

Imam Nanfo Diaby was arrested in Kankan, Guinea Conakry, after angry protesters attacked his mosque.

Guinea’s Office of Religious Affairs has previously warned Nanfo to refrain from the practice described as blasphemy.

The religious department banned him from leading prayers in his compound and anywhere in the country.
