President of the Gambia Transport Union Omar Ceesay has rejected the new rule put in place to test drivers.
The test could disqualify dozens of unfit drivers as police begin a clampdown to minimise the severity of accidents in the country’s roads.
Mr Ceesay said the new police testing should not be for all drivers.
“When the police announced a testing exercise for drivers, I countered that call, because I cannot determine your competency.
“My argument is the procedure they put in place for testing – medical testing is what I disagree to,” he said.
