The Director General of Gambia Radio and Television Services has been sacked. 

Abdou M.K Touray was fired from his job on Friday and redeployed to the Ministry of Information effective March 1.

“Yes, I have been redeployed to the Ministry of Information as adviser to the Ministry,” Mr Touray confirmed to the media. 

He will now serve as advisor to his former boss, Ebrima Sillah, the Minister of Information. Mr Touray replaced Ebrima Sillah as GRTS director general in 2019.

Mr Touray served at the national broadcaster for more than 25 years in different capacities before his appointment as Director General. 

Former staff of the U.S Embassy, Malick Jeng, has been appointed as the GRTS director general.
