Police have arrested a man driving a UDP pickup truck with drug possession after a car chase.
The driver identified as Yusupha Jambang was taken into custody with suspected cannabis.
According to the police, the driver failed to stop at a checkpoint resulting in a car chase.
“Evidence of suspected cannabis were found in the vehicle leading to the arrest of the driver.
“Since it’s a drug related matter, the case has been handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of the Gambia for further actions,” the police said in a statement.
The driver was accused of causing considerable damages to the patrol vehicle during the chase.
The Traffic Department of the Police is assessing the damages caused to the patrol vehicle, the police said.
