The Gambia Police Force has released its data on the joint security crackdown on crimes and its related-menace within the Greater Banjul Area.

The crime data revealed that 408 people were arrested during Operation Zero Crime – a major drive to tackle crime and drug supply across Banjul and West Coast region.

“[About] 201 people were found not connected to any crime and therefore released. 

“[And] 79 people were found to be illegal immigrants and handed over to the Immigration Department for the necessary actions. 

“65 people were found with suspected drugs and handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency for the necessary actions. 63 people were charged with various crimes as stated below,” police data said.

Meanwhile, the data showed offences committed to have included “going armed in public, possession of suspected stolen properties, breaking and stealing, drink and drive, assault, stealing, escape from lawful custody, among others.”
