One of The Gambia’s presidential aspirants has said he wants to end the country’s poverty trail and “transform it to a wealthy nation in the world”.
Ebrima T Manneh, the leader of the opposition People’s Alliance Party told Niumi FM.
Manneh, 50, said: ” I want to have the biggest impact on the lives of the people that will transform this country from a poor backward country to a middle-income country within a short period.”
The UK trained economist added that : “I don’t want to be the president just for the sake of being it. I want to be the best president. The fairest and the most honest president dares ever been in this country and within my generation.”
He said he is willing to bring inclusiveness and objectivity in the country’s political landscape.
Manneh is the son of the late renowned chief of Lower Niumi, Tabora Manneh. And his party is the latest political party to be formed and accepted by the Independent Electoral Commission.
The Gambia will head to the polls in December to elect its next president.
