Ex-president Yahya Jammeh has sacked the APRC executive for not seeking his consent before entering a political alliance with President Adama Barrow.

Jammeh rejected the deal with President Barrow that has caused a rift in the former ruling APRC party. 

In a bombshell telephone address to a breakaway faction in Kanilai on Friday, Jammeh sacked the APRC executive led by his longstanding ally Fabakary Tombong-Jatta. 

Jammeh, in his trademark unpredictability, announced a new political alliance with GANU, a relatively new opposition party, for the December presidential election.

“APRC will not go into alliance with any party that has destroyed The Gambia within this past four years and APRC will work with GANU and no other party,” he said from his base in Equatorial Guinea.

Jammeh said he is the supreme leader of the APRC party and will do what he thinks is in the interest of the party. 

He replaced the Tombong-Jatta led APRC executive with members of the anti-Barrow alliance group.

They include Abdou Jarju, Bakary Saibo Sanneh, Muhammed Lamin Jammeh, Yahya Bamba, Jerreding Sanyang, Matarr Kujabi, Ebou Sambou, Omar Mamburay, Pa Modou Mbowe, Williams and Habib Secka.
