President Adama Barrow has told a rally in Basse that Lawyer Ousainou Darboe’s retirement is imminent.
The president claimed he has already won the election saying he has the backing of the opposition to defeat other long-term opposition.
“This is a clear sign that the whole Gambia is behind President Barrow. They are all in my camp. Therefore, anyone who opposes President Barrow should check himself again.
“What happens in the world is that the opposition mobilises to defeat a government, but if the opposition mobilises to join you to defeat the opposition that’s a victory,” he said in Farafenni.
“Therefore, the biggest opposition in the country, especially my father [lawyer Ousainou Darboe] should know that his time is imminent for retirement. And we have given him a red card and we will retire him on the 4th of December,” he
added.
However the president’s campaign style has divided opinion. Many Gambians accused him of failing to tell voters about his policies and only attacking the opposition parties.
