The MFDC rebel leader Salif Sadio has dismissed claims that exiled former president Yahya Jammeh was sponsoring his rebellion with weapons.
According to him, Movement Forces Democratic de Casamance (MFDC) have been fighting for years when Jammeh was only a soldier in The Gambia.
“That’s just [idle] talk and it’s not true. If Yahya Jammeh [had] ran with 200 soldiers and had come here with those men he would likely be safe,” he said.
“But those are just talks because when we were fighting Yahya Jammeh was not a president.
“What I know is if any Gambian soldier had to come here, I would send them back because we wouldn’t interfere in any affairs of any country.”
