A Guinean woman who claimed to have mystic powers and can pray on the sea has been arrested for fraud.

Fanta Sangaré was arrested by Guinean police last week and is in custody helping them with their investigation, reports Africaguinée news platform. 

She was reported to have defrauded her victims to the tune of several billion Guinean francs.

An arrest warrant was already issued before her arrest after the victims lodged complaints with the police about the alleged fraud from the self-professed mystic healer. 

She gained prominence after an image of her praying on water went viral on social media. 

The victims alerted police about her whereabouts after the viral image.

It was also reported that Fanta Sangaré is not her real name and her true identity is Mariam Traore.
