Police have named the suspect in the killing of a British woman Shaikina Chinedu as Augustine Bangura who is from Sierra Leone.
The police said the suspect used a hammer to kill the victim in her residence, adding that the suspect has already confessed to have killed the deceased.
Speaking at a news conference at Kairaba Police station, Commissioner Boto Keita told reporters: “the police were able to get admission from the suspect and he confessed doing the act and then he led the police to recover the properties that he stole after murdering madam Shaikina Chinedu and the police definitely went back with him to the crime scene.”
He added: “She was murdered by the suspect, Augustine Bangura who is from Sierra Leone. During the cause of the investigation, the keys of woman Shaikina Chinedu were recovered from the suspect
“We also recovered the hammer that he used to kill Madam Shaikina Chinedu. The hammer, the spade all are here with us as an article of evidence in hand. The suspect is already in our custody.”
He said that the suspect will be brought before a court soon for trial of the crime he allegedly committed.
“We are preparing the file now because we have almost concluded the investigation and we are now putting him before court sooner,” he continued.
