Police have called in more staff members of the Central Bank of The Gambia in an ongoing investigation into arrest of an alleged staff of the top bank found with $57,800 and D370,000 in cash.
Lamin Marong, the suspect in question, was arrested with the cash at the Jenoi checkpoint by security officers of The Gambia Drug Law Enforcement Agency last week.
This comes after a raid on Access Bank branch in Brusubi by armed robbers, who stole a huge unspecified amount.
The Gambia Police Force has not yet said if the two incidents are linked.
However in a statement released today police said they have “invited some Central Bank officials to assist with the ongoing investigation” relating to the cash seizure at the border.
