Modou Lamin Ndow, who is serving a jail term at Mile Two Central Prison, has escaped custody.
The fugitive inmate reportedly escaped while taking out garbage outside the prison premises.
The Gambia Prison Service has since launched a manhunt for him and is appealing to the public for assistance with any information regarding his whereabouts.
ASP Luke Jatta, spokesperson for the Gambia Prison Service, confirmed the escape to Gambiana.

“He was charged and convicted on two counts: stealing and housebreaking, sentenced to three years on count one and one year on count two.
“He later appealed to the Court of Appeal, and the sentence was reduced to two years on each count,” he said.
