Four Nigerian nationals have been charged over their alleged involvement in a computer-related fraud and forgery case, with one defendant pleading guilty.

Sunday Anekwe, Mmeze Solomon, Chinonso John Nwabumnne, and Chinonso Barnabas Nwabumnne were arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Magistrate Dawda Phatty.

The charges, ranging from computer-related extortion to fraud and forgery, were read in English. Chinonso John Nwabumnne, the third accused, entered a guilty plea, while the others denied the charges.

The prosecution presented its case against Mr Nwabumnne, which he accepted without contest.

He is expected to be sentenced on 2 June 2025.

The other three defendants were each granted bail of D200,000, with a requirement for a Gambian surety to swear an affidavit of means.

Their case was adjourned to 4 June 2025, when the prosecution is due to call its first witness.
