The National Assembly has approved the establishment of a special select committee to investigate the sale and disposal of assets belonging to former President Yahya AJJ Jammeh.
Lawmakers convened an extraordinary session on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, where they voted in favour of setting up the committee.

The move comes amid growing public interest in how the assets of the former leader have been managed since his departure from office in 2017.
The committee is expected to scrutinise the processes involved in the disposal of Jammeh’s properties and provide recommendations on the way forward.
Jammeh ruled The Gambia for over two decades before going into exile in Equatorial Guinea following his electoral defeat in 2016.
