Algeria secured their place at the upcoming TotalEnergies African Nations Championship with an emphatic 3-0 home victory over Gambia, ending the visitors’ hopes of qualifying for the tournament for the first time.
After a goalless first half, the Algerians turned up the pressure in the second period, scoring all three goals to seal a dominant win.
The result not only confirmed Algeria’s qualification but also dashed Gambia’s dream of making their maiden appearance at the continental championship.
With this commanding performance, Algeria heads into the tournament with confidence, while Gambia is left to regroup after falling short of a historic achievement.
The tournament for domestic-based players will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
