I trust this message finds you in good health. I would like to extend my New Year’s greetings to you and your family. As a concerned citizen, I feel compelled to address an urgent issue that requires your immediate attention.

Migration has become one of the most significant challenges facing our nation. This crisis persists without resolution, with many citizens, particularly the youth, seeking opportunities abroad due to a prevailing sense of hopelessness about the future. A major factor driving this migration is the deteriorating economic situation in the country.

While I recognise and commend the efforts made by your administration to stabilise the economy and address migration, I believe that more decisive and targeted actions are needed to tackle this issue effectively.

Mr. President, the years 2023 and 2024 have been among the most devastating in recent history, with a tragic loss of life as many young Gambians have perished at sea while attempting to reach Europe in search of better prospects.

This alarming trend calls for urgent and comprehensive action. I strongly urge your administration to implement concrete policies aimed at addressing the root causes of this crisis and providing sustainable opportunities for our youth.
