The former ruling APRC party has said it has “no confidence in the country’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission”.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Fabakary Tombong Jatta said “we have said this many times…we have no confidence in the TRRC”.
Mr Jatta, who was a majority leader of the APRC party at the Gambia’s National Assembly for over a decade, added that “too much of contradicting testimonies are emanating from the Truth Commission”.
“If you see the questioning style of the TRRC is contradicting, you see people say this thing today and they are consulted and they say something different tomorrow,” he said.
He however, said the Barrow – led government could amend certain clauses in the Constitution.
However, Mr Jatta said his party is willing to dialogue with any political party but that “the APRC party is so far in no position of forming an alliance with any political party”.
