President Adama Barrow arrived in Conakry on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, for an official visit aimed at strengthening the longstanding friendship, cooperation and bilateral ties between The Gambia and Guinea.

Barrow was welcomed at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport by Guinean Prime Minister and Head of Government Amadou Oury Bah, who represented President Mamadi Doumbouya.

Following the official welcome and protocol formalities, President Barrow proceeded to Mohammed V Palace, where he is expected to hold talks with President Doumbouya on bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The visit comes as The Gambia and Guinea seek to deepen cooperation, particularly in the economic and social sectors, while promoting greater exchanges between their peoples.

The two countries share longstanding historical, cultural and people-to-people ties, which have over the years been strengthened through diplomatic and economic relations.

President Barrow’s visit is therefore expected to reaffirm the commitment of both countries to regular dialogue and stronger regional cooperation, while exploring areas of shared interest.
