Adama Barrow has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering women as the country joined the rest of the world to mark International Women’s Day.

The president said women remain a driving force behind progress in communities across The Gambia.

In a message celebrating the global event, Barrow praised Gambian women for their strength, resilience and leadership in society.

“On International Women’s Day, we honor the pivotal role of Gambian women in positively shaping our society,” he said.

The president said women continue to break barriers and contribute meaningfully to development at all levels.

He stressed that his administration will continue to support initiatives that promote women’s advancement and participation in national development.

“My government remains committed to creating opportunities for women to thrive and drive development,” Barrow said.

The president also paid tribute to the determination of women across the country.
“To all Gambian women, I salute your unwavering spirit,” he added.
