The Gambian President Adama Barrow has told the nation that he is committed to leaving an “enviable legacy”.

Barrow was speaking at the swear-in ceremony of the nation’s new vice president Muhammed B. S Jallow, who replaced the late Dr Alieu Badara Joof.

The late vice president Joof died in office last January while receiving treatment in India for an undisclosed illness.

President Barrow told his cabinet that Gambians tasked them to deliver on their promises of maintaining peace and ushering developments.

“The Gambian citizens have tasked us as a government to deliver on our promise of maintaining peace, security and development in an accountable manner.

“Accordingly, I am greatly committed to leaving an enviable legacy which only be archived with the support of all arms of government,” he said.
