President Adama Barrow has urged members of his National People’s Party to embrace unity, as he linked losing some parliamentary seats during last elections to internal feud among some members.
Addressing his supporters in Banjul, Barrow said if members had been as united as they were like during the presidential election, that the party would have archived a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections.
He emphasised unity as they party’s strength and called on members to set aside their their differences and come together.
“The party lost seats during the national assembly election because of disagreement within the party members then.
“If not for that disagreement, the party would have won in Banjul because I had won so many polling stations in Banjul during the election. But why didn’t that trend continue? Because of internal issues among ourselves,” he said.
