President Adama Barrow has directly challenged political opponents claiming they will determine the outcome of the December 2026 presidential election, predicting they will be forced to accept defeat once the votes are counted.

Speaking during the handover of vehicles to NPP supporters, Barrow said his party is preparing for a peaceful election but remains confident of securing a decisive victory.

“To those saying they will announce the election, I want to tell them that they will run away when the counting starts because they will be defeated massively,” Barrow said.

The President urged his supporters not to underestimate their political opponents and called on them to intensify their work at the grassroots as the election approaches.

“We are in working time. When they go to places to destroy us, go there to make what they have destroyed,” he told NPP supporters.

Barrow also expressed his desire for a peaceful electoral process, while making clear that he expects the NPP to emerge with a commanding victory.

“I wish for a peaceful election and an election in which we will win by a landslide,” he said.

His remarks come as political parties and movements step up mobilisation ahead of the December 2026 presidential election, with the contest expected to be closely watched across the country.

Barrow also sought to rally NPP supporters around his administration, warning them against complacency and urging them to remain active in communities where opposition parties are campaigning.

The vehicle handover forms part of the NPP’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
