Barrow and Kandeh

President Adama Barrow is expected to meet Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) leader Mama Kandeh and his delegation at the State House this afternoon, in a development that comes amid growing reports that the opposition leader is considering joining forces with the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the 2026 presidential election.

According to an official update from the Presidency, President Barrow will receive Hon. Mama Kandeh and his delegation at 3:00 p.m. today, 29 July 2026.

The purpose of the meeting has not been disclosed.

The meeting is expected to draw significant political attention as speculation continues over a possible alliance between the NPP and the GDC, with reports suggesting such a partnership could see Mama Kandeh back President Barrow’s bid for a third term in office.

Neither the Presidency nor the GDC has publicly confirmed the reports or outlined the agenda for the State House meeting.
More details are expected after the closed-door talks.
