President Adama Barrow will on Monday set off to Abuja, Nigeria, to attend the Nigeria International Energy Summit, the Office of the President has announced.

In a statement issued by State House, the President is expected to join fellow African leaders, policymakers, energy experts and private sector actors at the high-level summit, which focuses on energy security, sustainable development and investment opportunities within Africa’s energy sector.

The summit will provide a platform for discussions on regional cooperation, energy transition, renewable energy, and strategies for improving access to reliable and affordable power across the continent.

It is also expected to explore ways of attracting investment into national energy sectors, including emerging markets such as The Gambia.

President Barrow will be accompanied by a delegation of senior government officials.

During the summit, the delegation is expected to engage international partners and investors on The Gambia’s energy priorities, ongoing reforms and prospects in the power and energy sector.

According to the statement, the President and his delegation will depart Banjul International Airport at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, 2 February 2026, for Abuja.
