President Adama Barrow has warned his long-term political rival Mama Kandeh who heads opposition Gambia Democratic Congress to desist from inviting exiled former president Yahya Jammeh to his campaign rallies.
Barrow’s warning comes after Jammeh spoke at Kandeh’s rally in Farafenni from his base in Equatorial Guinea.
Jammeh called on Gambians to vote in Kandeh to end people’s “suffering”.
But speaking at Sare Ngai, Wuli West District, President Barrow warned: “I am warning Mama Kandeh to stay away from inviting Yahya Jammeh in his campaign platforms and I will tell the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to notify Kandeh before we take any action.
“If Kandeh thinks he can do anything he want, we will let him know that this country is governed by law.”
“No matter how frustrated you are, you should know what to do. If someone is drowning in a river even if you give the person a cutlass the person will grab it. If this happens again, he will know that this country is govern by laws,” the president added.
