Police fired teargas to disperse angry United Democratic Party supporters as Momodou Sabally’s nomination to stand as National Assembly member for Busumbala constituency got rejected.

The nation’s electoral body cited Section 90(1)e of the Constitution which the body said disqualified the latter from holding a public office in the country.

Angry supporters pelted stones at the police to force them to shutdown the gate of the Independent Electoral Commission Brikama.

Sabally and dozens of Jammeh associates were banned from holding public office by the Janneh Commission.
