Dodou Jah has dropped a political bombshell, warning that more members of the United Democratic Party (UDP) are preparing to quit before the 2026 general election.
The outspoken APRC stalwart said the opposition’s troubles are far from over, claiming growing frustration among members over Ousainou Darboe’s long grip on leadership.
His comments come as the UDP battles a wave of defections, the latest being Talib Bensouda’s dramatic exit to form his own political movement.
While Darboe and his loyalists have dismissed the crisis talk, insisting the party “will never die,” Jah cautioned that the exodus could deal a serious blow to the UDP’s strength ahead of the polls.

“There are more resignations to come because I have spoken to some people who told me they will resign, but I will not name names. Both locally and abroad, many people are planning to leave UDP,” Jah revealed.
He blamed the growing discontent on Darboe’s prolonged stay at the top, saying leadership fatigue was driving supporters away.
“This will affect the party both internally and externally. No single party can win an election in this country alone, 2016 proved that,” he said.
“Even in 2021, President Barrow’s victory came through alliances. UDP is strong and consistent, but when a leader stays too long, people eventually get fed up.”
