Dozens of people have been arraigned before a lower court for allegedly flouting the road demolition order by returning to their evicted places.

This comes as police arrested a large number of people for continuing to illegally encroach after demolition of their shops and stalls erected on the roadsides.

The demolition has seen hundreds of makeshift shops and stalls including police station veranda and Wester Union kiosks being demolished.

Speaking to our reporter, Bakary Manneh, commanding officer leading the police officers said: “In regards to people who were found wanting by the laws due to their activities – people who go back to those places where they were asked not to be occupying, of course they were arraigned yesterday before the court and today as well.

“So, those offenders will be coming before the courts of this country. Anyone who goes back to these places will face the full force of the law.”

He urged the public to desist against re-encroaching on their demolished places, as he vowed that anyone found wanting will be dealt with by the full wrath of the law.
