Dozens of football fans were  injured Saturday after a speeding truck ran into a jubilant crowd in Kafuta.

“The injured have been transported to Brikama Health Centre for medical attention. At this time, no fatalities have been confirmed.

“[We] are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will ensure appropriate legal action is taken,” police said.

The Gambia is ranked among road accident prone nations, with more than 1,000 road accidents recorded in the past four years, resulting in 200 deaths.
