Ex-soldier officer Sanna Manjang, who is accused to have been a key member of the feared Junglers under ex-president Yahya Jammeh, is facing fresh murder charges following the filing of a new bill of indictment.

Manjang was previously arraigned before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on three counts of murder related to the deaths of veteran journalist Deyda Hydara, Ndongo Mboob, and Haruna Jammeh. Those charges have now been revised.

According to the new charge sheet, Manjang is accused of the unlawful killings of Kajali Jammeh and Samba Wurry in Kanilai in 2006.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

During Yahya Jammeh’s 22-year rule, at least 240 people were allegedly killed, and many others remain unaccounted for. Manjang is among 69 individuals recommended for prosecution by the Truth, Reconciliation, and Reparations Commission (TRRC).

The case marks another step in the ongoing efforts to hold former officials and alleged operatives accountable for human rights violations during the Jammeh era.

Court proceedings are expected to continue as investigators and legal teams prepare for trial.
