Lamin Fatty, the former national coordinator of the Child Protection Alliance (CPA), has been invited for questioning by police at the Old Yundum Police Station in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Mr Fatty said he received a call from an officer who identified himself as Inspector Kambi. The officer informed him that his telephone number had appeared on a proposed call list relevant to the case under investigation.
“He said the invitation is in connection with an ongoing investigation, and that my number appeared on a proposed call list,” he said, adding that he is on his way to the station to respond to the invitation.
It remains unclear what the investigation concerns, and the police have yet to issue an official statement.
Mr Fatty, a prominent child rights advocate, led the Child Protection Alliance for several years before stepping down from his position.
He is known for his work in promoting the rights and welfare of children across The Gambia.
