Former Jungler Sanna Manjang appears today (15 January) before the Banjul High Court for plea taking on two counts of murder.

Manjang, whose case was transferred from the Magistrates’ Court, is charged under Section 187 of the Criminal Code with the alleged killings of Kajali Jammeh, also known as “Le Cock,” and Samba Wurry.

The State alleges that Kajali Jammeh was killed by having his throat cut with a knife, while Samba Wurry was stabbed in the chest.
At his last appearance, Justice Sidi K. Jobarteh ordered the prosecution to file a bill of indictment, paving the way for today’s proceedings.

Prosecutors told the court they may file additional charges as investigations continue, but said today’s case is based on direct eyewitness evidence.

Manjang is a former member of the Junglers, a hit squad linked to ex-president Yahya Jammeh.
