Fabakary Tombong Jatta, leader of APRC, has said that the party remains in alliance with the ruling National People’s Party until the next elections which include president, national assembly and local governments.

APRC has been embroiled in intense internal division since 2021, when exiled former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh fired Fabakary Tombong Jatta and his executive, accusing them of sabotaging the party’s ethics by supporting Barrow’s reelection. In response, FTJ leadership rejected Jammeh’s decsion and stayed  put, leading to split within the party.

Speaking at the party’s congress in Banjul, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, urged the party supporters to disreagard misinformation suggesting that the alliance with NPP has ended.

“For the past years, there have been so much hate remarks, misinformation spread by some people whose intention is to see the APRC party die. But who God bless, no man curses. Let’s unite for peace and development and leave the rest to God.

“I want to emphasis once again that APRC is in alliance with the NPP and other parties. I have heard some people spreading false information, but we  have signed an alliance with the NPP until the upcoming presidential election in 2026. And we do not want to swallow our words,” he added.
