The APRC acting leader, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has said only the APRC can liberate the Gambia from “poverty and injustice.”

Tombong-Jatta made this statement at a rally in Tallinding on Sunday. He said the former ruling party is better place to address the needs of the Gambian people as the party has the people’s best interest at heart.

“The party that can liberate the Gambia from the hardship of poverty and injustice is APRC. The party that would cure and address the entire problems of Gambians is no party other than the mighty APRC,” he said.

Former president Yahya Jammeh

Tombong-Jatta called for peace and tolerance among Gambians adding that “our political difference should not divide us. Whether you are APRC, UDP, PDOIS, GDC, NRP or GMC supporter, we are all Gambians.”

He called on his party supporters to be patient and urged them to embrace the rule of law and desist from violence in the country, adding that former president Yahya Jammeh is in good condition in Equatorial Guinea.

The Tallinding rally was the last leg of the APRC party’s nationwide appraisal tour which started last week.

A large convoy of APRC supporters in cars and trucks halted traffic on the Banjul-Brikama highway on Sunday evening. The 1000 cars convoy occupied the highway forcing other road users to move snail pace on one lane of the road.

The APRC supporters were drumming, dancing and chanting the name of the former president Yahya Jammeh in an exuberant mood.

Some supporters were spotted with slogans on their green t-shirts: ‘no to selective justice’ and ‘APRC is here to stay.’
