Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Major General Ousman Gomez, attended the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom on Friday.

Major General Gomez was accompanied by The Gambia’s High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Dr Fatou Bensouda, and his Military Assistant, Major Ebrima Ceesay.

The ceremony marked the graduation of Gambian Army Cadet Omar Touray, who completed 44 weeks of military training at Sandhurst.

Senior British military officials also engaged with the Gambian delegation during the event.
The GAF said Major General Gomez’s attendance marked the first time a serving Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia has attended the Sovereign’s Parade, reflecting the ongoing professional ties between the Gambian and British armed forces.

Cadet Touray’s father was also present to witness his graduation.

The Gambia Armed Forces congratulated Cadet Touray on completing his training and wished him well as he continues his military career.
