The Gambia’s senior national football team delivered a spirited performance on Monday, clinching a memorable 1-0 victory against Tunisia in their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Abdoulie Ceesay emerged as the hero of the night, rising above Tunisia’s defence to score the match’s only goal.

His powerful header, expertly set up by a pinpoint cross from star forward Musa Barrow, sealed the victory and ignited celebrations among Gambian fans.

The triumph was bittersweet as it marked the end of The Gambia’s AFCON campaign, with the team narrowly missing out on qualification.

However, the win over Tunisia, a football powerhouse, showcased the remarkable progress of the Scorpions on the African football stage.

Despite the win, The Gambia’s journey in the Africa Cup of Nations came to an end, with the team falling short of qualification.
