The Gambia national football team, the Scorpions

The Gambia has made progress in recently released football ranking by FIFA. In the ranking statistics released on Thursday the Scorpions moved from 166 to 163 after accumulating 994 points.

The Scorpions are on the rise despite missing out on the Africa Nations Cup to the Desert Foxes of Algeria. The national team worst FIFA ranking was in 2017 when it featured 179 on the list.

Belgium tops the world ranking with total points of 1,737, followed by the world champions France with 1,734 and Brazil with 1,676 respectively.

Only five African countries – Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo – were aming rthe top 50 in the world.

Senegal is the highest ranking African national team in the list.
