The Gambia Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism and ethical conduct among its officers.
In light of recent events, the force has addressed the actions of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Binta Njie, emphasising that all personnel are bound by internal regulations governing behaviour.
According to the statement, officers are expected to uphold the integrity and impartiality of the Police, avoiding any actions that might tarnish the institution’s reputation.
Regarding ASP Njie’s recent social media activity, the Police have clarified that she has neither been arrested nor interrogated. Instead, the situation is being managed administratively, following established disciplinary protocols.
The incident stems from a Facebook post by ASP Njie, in which she criticised remarks made by Baboucarr Bahoum.
Bahoum had described residents of Kiang as “ungrateful” following the National People’s Party’s defeat to the United Democratic Party in the Massembeh by-election.
ASP Njie’s response to Bahoum’s comment led to her being summoned and questioned by the police.
