A Gambian migrant has been allegedly killed by Tunisian Police while four others are reportedly taken away by the officers.

The deceased Gambian migrant has been identified as Muhammad Ceesay.

Ebrima Drammeh, Italy-based Gambian migrant rights defender, said: “Muhammad Ceesay was [allegedly] killed by blows and tear gases from Tunisian police officers.

“They took [his body in a] coffin away last night and were accompanied by four Gambian migrants. But from yesterday until now they did not return back to KM 34 [their camp], and nobody has heard from them. We are asking the Tunisian police about the whereabouts of our brothers.”

According to Drammeh, a Tunisian hospital refused to receive the wounded Gambian migrants.

“Yesterday the [Tunisian] Red Crescent took notes but when we contacted the Red Crescent, they didn’t respond to our call and email,” he added.
