Gambians are calling for a political debate between President Adama Barrow and the opposition leader Ousainou Darboe.

The call comes after presidential aspirants Halifa Sallah of PDOIS and Dr Ismaila Ceesay Of Citizens’ Alliance faced off in a debate highly praised by Gambians.

The two-hour primetime debate was watched by thousands of Gambians on Wednesday.

After the debate, many took to social media to call for a debate between President Adama Barrow and his main challenger and former godfather Ousainou Darboe.

“Next on the debate platform: Barrow v Darboe,” UK-based Yunus Hydara wrote on Facebook.

Mana Drammeh added: “Let’s advocate a debate between UDP and NPP. President Barrow vs Hon. Darboe. Nko, will Pres. Barrow accepts the offer and if he does how will he express himself academically on the stage? No vote for any political party, who fails to debate.”

“UDP the largest opposition party, is challenging President Barrow on any platform up to the polls.”

“The UDP is not in a competition with her fellow oppositions! We thinking big

You don’t know!” another social media user said.
