Minister of tourism and culture, Hamat Bah, has claimed that Kanifing Municipality has been “extremely dirty” under mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda.

Speaking in Banjul during the president’s final leg of his meet-the-people tour, Bah launched a scathing attack against mayor Bensouda.

“Go concentrate on developing your municipality. He has a very dirty municipality. Extremely dirty municipality,” Bah said.

He urged Bensouda to focus on developing the municipality instead of engaging in what he called “cheap politics” to score points.

Bah said Bensouda has been claiming to have created jobs for many people, even though it’s the government that has intervened to restore sanity to his council.

The Barrow administration and Kanifing Municipal Council have been at a loggerhead over alleged corruption and treatment of former council CEO Sainabou Martin.
