The Ministry of Health has said it will embarked on a mass coronavirus sample collection in Bakau after a rise in coronavirus cases in the area. 

Yesterday a 27-year-old woman from Bakau with no travel history and her child tested positive for the virus.

The Health Ministry said in a statement on  Twitter Saturday:

“After confirmation of a positive case of COVID-19 in Bakau, Health ministry’s Risk Communication Team in partnership with National Youth Council’s Bakau youth Wing are embarking on community engagement exercise in Bakau ahead of a planned mass COVID-19 sample collection in Bakau.

“The mass sample collection exercise will be held on Sunday 3/5/2020 at Bakau Community Center starting from 9:00am. All residents of Bakau are encouraged to grab this opportunity so as to keep safe and protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

“Together, we can win this battle.”
